Chinese Dinosaur Partial Leg and Claws --Jiufotang Formation, Chaoyang

Hello, what are thoughts on this. A partial leg and claws from Jiufotang Formation. Anyone spot any repairs or reso?

 

Each limb section is approximately 30cm.

 

Seller doesn't know species--a type of Oviraptor?

No idea if its a cast or not but it does look uniform throughout to my eyes for what its worth.

I see it and think fake. but it could still be real i am thinking composition mounted on rock.

I really do not think you can make a proper assessment without hand examination using a loop abd UV light

This was my impression as well, based on the coloring (=paint job).

If it's being sold as a replica, it should be fine. If it's being sold as real, definitely avoid - looks like a well made fake. Would be nice to own as a replica, but not worth breaking your wallet for.

Stay away then! Purchasing it would simply encourage the seller to fake more fossils, or to sell more fossils of dubious quality.
