fossilized6s
Here is a crinoid calyx i found while hunting for Fluorite in Southern IL. It actually has Fluorite "crystals" formed on it. Sorry about the pics, this thing is tiny! Here's the bottom showing a "crystal" ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
fossilized6s
So i may just have solidified my nerdomness for fossils and just made a necklace from my loose crinoid stem sections that had holes in them. Does anyone have cool pics of crinoids from their collections??? ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
piranha
My best crinoid is this large slab of Scyphocrinites from the upper Silurian of southeastern Morocco. It's also a favorite fossil because it looks just like Cornelius from the classic sci-fi movie "Conquest of the Planet of the Crinoids"

trilobite nut
Yes it is. Thank you. When I'm done, I will build a display case that it deserves. Although I found it, prepped it and see it every day, it still stops me in my tracks. I'm pretty sure I'm as captivated by crinoids as you are! This is a great idea for a thread, so come on, lets see some more crinoids!
