Hi everyone!

I've trade some trilobites partials few weeks ago and I am not sure about the ID that comes with the pieces! Its says Proetida Phillipsiidae from Tournai, Belgium!

What do you think?

Thankyou!

There are multiple trilobite species from that area. I think i'ts "Piltonia kuehnei"

But I m not 100% sure, i ts verry hard to make a diference between them.

The age is Tournaisian (early carboniferous)

growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.

With only the pygidium and the negative, I'd have to agree with Kevin. But like he said, differentiation between the two is difficult without more to go on.

Best regards,

I agree with Kevin on the ID. There is more to see than just the pygidium by the way, also a cranidium, which fits Piltonia nicely.

From the looks of it, most of the shale is left in the negative imprint.

Another example of this trilobite can be found in our database: here.

I think it is Piltonia partials! When I compare the pieces I have and some pictures of Piltonia, they are exactly the same!

Sorry about the wording, but it was supposed to read pygidium on the negative. I do not proofread sometimes and I should. Fred is completely correct.
