Found in my rock bed by our porch. Caught my eye as a finger. Any ideas?

Looks like neither. I'm sorry but I think it's just an interestingly shaped rock.

Welcome to RFF!

I agree with lord trilobite, looks like it is a rock. But there is a slight possibility that it is a bone fragment.

Welcome to the Forum. :)

I would label this a pseudofossil - something that looks like a fossil, but isn't.

The resemblance to a finger, or toe, is purely coincidental.

Mother Nature's sense of humor knows no bounds. :)

This is an interestingly, and suggestively shaped rock - possibly a chert nodule.

There are many such common examples . :)

These are just some examples.

Fingers do not fossilize in this manner.

Only the bones fossilize. Soft tissue preservation would not only be incredibly rare, it would not look like these stones. ;)

Like I said,  Mother Nature is quite the trickster. :D

These are examples of Pareidolia.

By the way, the only creatures with fingers that size and finger nails are us and some other primates, this is an example of Apophenia.

Happy hunting,

It could be an isolated segment of a septarian concretion.

It would be a plain looking one. Not something you would expect to find in an image search.
