New Members MichaelSpeer1 Posted August 6, 2018 New Members Share Posted August 6, 2018 Hello all, I found this in a steam in East Tennessee about 20 years ago. I'm new to fossils so I was wondering if anyone could help identify. I spoke with a marine archaeologist who thought it might be a cephalopod or part of a trilobite. Thank you, Michael
Kane
The image is very blurry. Could you retake the image? The globules are not looking as though they have sufficient symmetry to suggest trilobite or nautiloid. Definitely more, and clear, pictures will help! 1 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

abyssunder
I wonder why it looks very close to the Westerstetten patterns? picture from here 2 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. ynot
This looks like hematite. Is it real heavy? I do not see a fossil.
abyssunder
I could go also with dissipative patterns resembling Westerstetten structures. It looks chert, to me. 10 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. New Members MichaelSpeer1 Posted August 7, 2018 Author New Members Share Posted August 7, 2018 It is heavy. I'd say maybe 10 lbs. Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure what it was.
