New Members Aflug360 Posted September 3, 2018 New Members Share Posted September 3, 2018 Found this rock and am unsure what it is. It is heavy for its size and vaguely resembles a few different rock types i have searched for, but i have yet to find anything definitive as to what it is. Hoping someone on this forum could potentially identify this one. 1.956 lbs/887 g
Max-fossils
Hi, and welcome to The Fossil Forum! Where was this found? It doesn't look like a fossil to me. Just by looking at the piece, it looks to me like it's just a big rock that was brutally attacked by a bunch of "rock-eating" bivalves, in the likes of Lithophaga shells or stuff within the Pholadoidea (the boring shells). But maybe the locality would rule out that possibility. The holes might also be geologic in origin (not caused by anything living), but they seem very round (much like bivalve borings) so I don't know if that's possible (geologically speaking). Then again my knowledge on geology is very limited. I'm sure that someone will be able to confirm or counter my bivalve proposition Best regards, Max 1 Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil.
