It has been very uncommon to find Ptychodus whipplei in the San Marcos Platform (SMP) Area of the Western Interior Seaway. They apparently are much more abundant in the DFW and Sherman areas of Texas nearer to the Ouachita Mountains of Oklahoma. Now, I have five outcrops that yielded teeth of this creature. The image is of my largest Ptychodus whipplei find to date in the SMP.
