astragalus deer
This is a comparison of the astragalus of a Pleistocene deer, Ococoileus virginianus, with the astragalus of a Late Miocene camel from the Bone Valley phosphate deposits in Southcentral Florida. The common Late Miocene camelid from these deposits is the lamin, Hemiauchenia.
The deer astragalus in the image is articulated with a calcaneum.
