I found this fossil in 2005.... Today after a 5 yrs sitting in a drawer... I got confirmation of the identity by the ROM of this fossil from the Bertie Lagerstatte.... it is one of the rarer new species of Cooksonia Identified and published in 2004 by Edwards, Banks, Ciurca and Laub, Botanical Journal of the Lnnean Society, 2004, 146, 399-413 (see figure #19). The scale is in mm. Excerpt" The rare plant fossils are unusual in that they are preserved in fine grained , slightly argillaceous dolostones rather than clastic rocks... globular sporangia morphology close to C. hemisphaerica Lang." The scale in the photo is in mm.

Great fossil! Within 40 years of collecting, I never found a Silurian or Devonian plant. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome Thomas. I am glad the ROM was able to confirm the identity. It was a good thing that I kept the fossil all these yrs.... I Knew I had something special.
