Oxytropidoceras sp.

Foshunter

Oxytropidoceras sp. from the Duck Creek Formation Lake Texoma, Texas. These ammonites have a keel that runs around the outside of the fossil that is super thin, 5mm or less in smaller specimens like this only 2mm. I was lucky to even a small piece of the keel left when removing from the hard limestone, this doesn't happen that often. This ammonite had a void section containing a shell and other debris, don't know if it was due to a bite or something else?-----Tom
