Extremely Rare Jurassic Coelacanth
My rarest find in the Early Jurassic Shuttle Meadow Fm of Connecticut.
The coelacanth Diplurus longicaudatus.
You can clearly see the gil cover or operculum, and part of the pectoral fin, along with the distinctive ridged scales.
Only about 25 specimens, only 10 of which are complete, are currently known.
Needs some prepwork still.
