Thanks!

I do actually use a mix of different materials.

Thylacosmilus and Thylacoleo are actually altered versions of the commercially available Smilodon model from geoworld, as is my Megantereon and Inostrancevia.

The skulls are 3d prints (Leo Nylon from a printing provider, the other ones PLA from my own printer). I used aluminum wire for additional ribs and lengthening of limbs, covered with epoxy putty.

The images below show the process well, I think.

Most of my models have 3d printed heads, the postcrania are a mix of plywood, wire, epoxy putty and, since I got my printer, printed PLA. all covered up with acryllic colours.

Using the bought models saves a lot of time, some I only changed a bit, others are completely changed, like the Oviraptorid made from mixed parts, more and more are completely selfmade like Tanystropheus.

Best regards,

Jan

@MahnmutThat's great!! It is an excellent job. That smilodon skeleton from GeoWorld is already very good in terms of quality/price. I have two, one for collection and the other because I saw it cheap at a free fair and it was a compulsive purchase, haha.

Apart from that I have the glyptodon, ichthyosaurus and spinosaurus, the latter being the most outdated for obvious reasons, so maybe one day I will dare to modify it and turn it into another spinosaur gone.

Thank you very much for the response and good luck with your models, they are very good :yay-smiley-1:

@mahnmut Ahh, to make the Majungasaurus, what skeleton did he use as a base?

Thanks, glad you like my models.

for the Majungasaurus I used this model:

"Elenco EDU-62008 Jr Scientist - T-Rex Skeleton",

its been discontinued. Now and then they pop up on online auctions. I hoarded some over the time.

I fear shipping overseas would be much more than its worth, otherwise I´d gladly supply you with one.

Best regards,

J

Don't worry, it was just to know which one you had used. I googled it and I've seen it. I'll keep that in mind if I ever see that skeleton.

Thank you very much for everything. Best regards
