Hi Jaybot, i would usually go up as far as 1000 but some are good enough at 500-800 , after engraver prep i use a dremel stylus with diamond bits to smooth it all out leaving sanding a lot quicker and easier , on finish i spray a thin coat of non yellowing UV resistant semi matte polyurethane to seal and protect the fossil and surrounding matrix 1 Link to comment
