Uncle Siphuncle
looks like the far right crown has big arms hidden, and perhaps 3 have buried, hidden arms in starburst configuration. i see more stems in cross section... perhaps more hidden crowns? thanks for lookin'... mikeymig
My entry is a giant 3" x 1.5" Eldredgeops rana from New York state. It was found on 9/15 and prepped 9/18. I placed a normal 1" Eldredgeops in the photo for comparison. The detail is great and the shell is very thick and colorful. The shale is hard and it was found in cross section. This bug is VERY rare to find over 2" here in New York and it displays a lot of action. mikey Many times I've wondered how much there is to know. led zeppelin

NatureGalTx
Slab of 6 or more Pycnocrinus dyeri crowns, Ordovician, Cincinnati, OH found August 10 and prepped September 17. I stopped short in prep due to lack of experience with this matrix, not wanting to over abrade and sacrifice detail. My best crinoid find to date. So Beautiful... so fragile... amazing that something that fragile could be so well preserved!! Fantastic prep!

cowsharks
My entry is for one of the prettiest Otodus I have ever found. Found on 9/22 in a piece of matrix. This was a "land" find, which likely explains why it is still so glossy, has a sharp cutting edge, nice cusps, and a sharp tip to boot! As you can see from the one picture, all I saw poking out of the matrix was a small portion of the tip. I busted it up to a smaller size about the size of a softball, brought it home, then slowly picked around it to free it. cowsharks
I'm not usually a tooth guy, but that's a beauty, Daryl - Congratulations. Regards, Thanks Fossildude. It was so exciting to find this tooth because normally all of the otodus I collect (from a different location) are water worn with some type of damage, usually the tip, even when you find them "fresh" out of the matrix. There's so much turtle material in the same area that I swear the Otodus sharks must have fed on the turtles causing them to bust their teeth up quite a bit - just a guess though. So, it's really nice when you can find a specimen with all of its parts intact. Daryl.

Otodus obliquus aka: "Giant Mackerel Shark" Palaeocene Aquia formation (Piscataway) Maryland Daryl. Daryl, that is an awesome Otodus. It looks so much better than most of what comes from Morocco in my opinion. FOTM material for sure. RCFossils
I would like to submit this Dalmanites halli that i collected in the Silurian aged Waldron Shale of Southern Indiana. Fragments of D. halli are fairly common but complete examples are extremely rare. I spoke to a long time trilobite collector who told me very few complete examples have been collected. In addition, this species appears to have a pathology. The cephalic spine on one side is considerably shorter then the other. I collected the specimen in August and prep was completed this month.
