What is the largest hemipristis anyone has found? I found one this weekend that I feel like I should be proud of - it is PRISTINE - but I'm not totally sure if it's as special as I'd like it to be.... : )

Biggest I've ever found is 1 5/8" on the long slant. I have seen 2" Hemi's on ebay.

I think we'd all like to see it whether it is a record or not.

I've never heard of any much larger than 2" on the slant, maybe 2 1/8" at most. My largest is 1 7/8" and is in my gallery. Any over 2" are going to cost you a pretty penny, so best of luck finding one

When I was a kid in the 60's, we would use all the over 2 inch Himi's for skipping stones. And any megs under 7 inches we would toss like some kind of japaneese throwing weapon to try and stick them into tree trunks shatering most. All the ones we kept we used for driveway gravel. HA!!!

Work's kinda slow, so I did some browsing. Elasmo says that teeth at 7.5cm (about 3" for you yanks) can be found from the Bone Valley area in FL. Then I saw Dr. Hubbell's collection and his info has fossil Hemipristis reaching about 16 ft in length, and the modern species at about half that. Modern teeth will reach about an inch in length max. You do the math. If these monster Hemi's do exist, they must be locked up in collections. As I said earlier, once in a while a 2" specimen comes up for sale and I've seen what they bring. A 3" Hemi would be pushing 4 figures in price I would imagine. I would love to see one

Yes, it was actually 2 3/8" and I sold it. Everyone I ask says it's the largest they've ever seen or heard of. It was a beautiful bone valley tooth, blue enamel, white root.

I love Hemi's. My largest is a 1 5/8 tooth I found diving the Cooper River last year. This past spring I saw a 2 inch beauty at Aurora that a guide had found.
