Brad

I'm not sure where you live but apparently there are Paleozoic marine outcrops in your area. Your find is a horn coral quite similar to the Streptelasma and Grewingkia specimens I found as a kid in the Cincinnati area, Ordovician in age. Diagnostic features that separate this horn coral from teeth include radially symmetric lines evident in cross section, lack of enamel, and presence of exterior bumps on your specimen. Feel free to submit your finds to this forum at any time. I still scratch my head on lots of specimens as well and regularly submit images for consideration by the group.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Dan, I live in southern Ohio along the Ohio river.

I found it in my drive way shortly after getting a fresh shipment of gravel (I presume it came with the gravel.) I'm not sure where the gravel originated.

Anyways, thanks again for your help. It's good to know finally know what it is; it's been sitting in a drawer for almost two years.
