New Members Samt Posted April 29, 2020 New Members Share Posted April 29, 2020 I found this on a beach in Northeast Massachusetts. The area was volcanic at one point in time. This appears to be the head that was a little squashed.
Tidgy's Dad
Just a chert nodule, I'm afraid, not a fossil. 5 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
grandpa
Hello Sam and a warm welcome to TFF from Austin, Tx. I'll have to agree with @Tidgy's Dad on the ID, but I can sure see why you thought it might be a fossilized head. As you continue on the forum, you will learn to ID what fossil bone looks like and what the fossilization of previous life actually looks like. Again, welcome.
Fossildude19
Yup. Suggestively shaped chert nodule. Sorry, not a fossil. Good material for arrowheads, though. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
