sweeneyb
I am heading up to D.C. this weekend to see Gwar in concert and was wondering if there were any good fossil sites in the area? I will be moving to D.C. this coming summer if I get the government job I applied for so would like to become familiar with some new sites its always hard going to places you have never been to. Hopefully I can find someone that lives in the D.C. area. Edited December 8, 2009 by sweeneyb

Hopefully I can find someone that lives in the D.C. area. The Potomac River has Paleocene and the Calvert Cliffs are Miocene. Public access is available at both. Purse State Park has a gravel parking lot and a short walk to the rivers edge. Brownie's Beach, Matoaka Cabins and Flag Ponds Nature Park will be your best bets along the cliffs. The water's getting cold. You might want to bring waders if you have them! Edited December 8, 2009 by obsessed1
Auspex
Stop by the shop if you're in the 'hood with nothing better to do! I'm on the Alexandria/Arlington border, within hearing distance of the Pentagon.
