safossils Posted March 24, 2008 Author Share Posted March 24, 2008 I should have mentioned that the bivalves are only about 1/2 inch across. There were miles of the though. The maps show this outcrop as Early Cretaceous Mural Limestone, but the bivalves look like the freshwater species that we find in the Tucson Mountains. We spent Easter at a small lake near Montana Peak. No fossils to report, but I sure wanted to make something out of this rock. I'm pretty sure this is just an interesting pattern in volcanic rock.
