Metal in fossil rock?

I found this very hard piece of rock,unlike the rest of the matrix,I dont know what it is.Its dark in color and is completely unbreakable with the needle(as contrast to the oreodont jaw,which i made a few scratches while prepping unfortunately)

so, is it in the same  rock as the oreodont jaw?  There are occasional hard pebbles in White River matrix.  I think that is what you have found.  Hard to tell what the picture shows, but now that I look at it again, I see the oreo tooth in the background.
