The fish were already known from fossils of their scales but this is the first time their jaws have been found shedding light on the early evolution of bony fish. Though the fish had teeth set into their jawbone like all modern bony fish and terrestrial vertebrates, they had a sort of conveyer belt of teeth like that of sharks.
