Le Quoc
Hi everyone! Recently my institute just bought a bunch of fish tooth from Morocco. We offer it those photo and when we received the box, almost the tooth have been glued and cracked. The seller didn’t explain the situation of the goods. So this condition happened as commonly with these kind of fossil or better there are many have better condition? Is that nature broken we they taken fossil in the matrix at the field? Please help me with this case. follow are photos
DPS Ammonite
@Tidgy's Dad The seller should have sent good photos or properly described the fossils before you bought them. Some of our experienced members should be able to tell you if these teeth have typical preservation for those from Morocco. I would be thrilled to find one of these even if I had to glue it back together. I note that most of them have tips of a contrasting color. Does that indicate that the tips were reconstructed from a piece from another tooth or from a manmade molding compound? Tidgy's Dad
I'm not much on vertebrate bits but I do have one of these and did have a few more that I gave away. These ones shown by the OP look pretty smashed-up, but then mine's dodgy as well, it seems to be several bits glues together. Onchopristis sp, if I recall. Here's the one I have left. 1 Life's Good! As this seller didn’t explain anything. Le
Troodon
These are rostral teeth of the sclerorhynchid , Onchopristis numidus from the Kem Kem Group of Morocco. What I'm seeing is pretty typical of what I see available in the market and the quality ranges from good to reglued and some have matrix on it. Most collectors purchase the quality level they want from no repairs to those being reglued; it can be a big price difference. They are fragile so breakage is not uncommon. You needed to see what you were purchasing before placing order and ask those questions beforehand
