Can someone help me identify this?

I am sorry, I know next to nothing about fossils and most bones.  I do think this is a fossil because the little areas that look like stippling are porous like the inside of a bone and the other areas are really smooth like they have been rubbed against.  I could be way off base here, but I just don't know.

I found this at North Topsail Beach in North Carolina, March 6, 2022.

Looks like a worn cetacean vertebra to me.

I agree. Very worn. But yes a fossil.

There are very few whale vertebra that "protrude" forward" and backward".  Do an internet search of "fossil whale vertebra" and see what they look like. It might be a Cetacean Axis Vertebra.

Yes, I have looked it up.  I think it is just worn down so that it looks like it is protruding, whereas as if it was whole, it would have been concave.

Thank you so much for your opinion and advice.

Thank you all for your opinions, I really appreciate it!

I was pretty sure it was a vertebra.  But I was having people on FB tell me it looks like a meteor and others said asphalt.  So I thought I'd turn to some fossil experts to get confirmation I wasn't crazy.  LOL

Anyone can say anything. You just need to realize that they are guessing which isn't always easy. Much better off here as you've seen. Welcome from a Pender Countian!
