GPayton Posted March 24, 2022 Share Posted March 24, 2022 I found something similar last week on the Brazos, although it was a much larger chunk. My understanding is that bones like this are pieces of mammoth, mastodon, or bison skull because animals with large tusks or horns on their heads needed a lot of air pockets within their skulls so that they could support the extra weight.
