Recently just got back from a trip on Tybee Island! During this trip I went out looking for shark teeth several times a day, and even did a tour with Sundial Charters! Overall in 6 days I found over 150 shark teeth and countless other fossils! I'll be posting them on here! Here's the coolest tooth I found actually on Tybee, I believe it's a Great Hammerhead.

During this trip I seemed to have a knack for finding pathological teeth! Here's one of them, it's a double cusped Sand Tiger!

Perhaps most impressive are the fossils I found while on the Savanah River! Here's my favorite tooth from the whole trip, it's a pathological Great White with two tips! I've never seen another GW like this and would love to see anyone else's!

My friend Kaytelynne taught me some great skills for finding fossils, and that definitely shows. Here's comparing my finds from this year to last year!

That pathological GW would make a good entry into VFOTM if you found it this month in my opinion

Here's all the Great White teeth I found! I've always found the hollow teeth interesting and do my best to preserve them!

Here's an interesting Mako tooth, is this curve do to ocean currents during preservation or is this one pathological?

Ocean currents wouldn't be able to sculpt a tooth like that. I have very little idea of how a Mako should actually look, but if that highly curved end is organic

For this to have happened as a result of ocean currents the tooth would've had to have a high degree of plasticity prior to fossilization. And while it may be possible to make bone brittle by removing collagen or more plastic using different methods (I believe, but can't find any information on that any more now), enamel is a highly mineralised substance that is less prone to these kinds of chemically driven processes that, moreover, would not normally occur in nature. As such, I'd say this tooth is pathological!

I am not sure I will get an answer to this older blog.

I will be going to Savannah  and Tybee Island at end of.

Can you tell me where exactly to go looking for shark teeth?  I will take my 9yearold daughter that wants to be a paleontologist or a geologist  when she grows up.

Also where are some places I can take her that not too far from Duluth GAMike

Hi. These were all beach finds. And, the OP mentioned the Savanah river. That would be a good place to start. You can't get any more exact than that. They also mentioned chartering a tour. Which is also a good way to find fossils. You can try searching the database on this site for "Tybee Island" for clues. Sometimes, on YouTube, people post videos of their fossil hunts. You can try that. A little bit of sleuthing will help make a productive trip.
