lI found this rock in a quarry, at Hadeland in Norway, Katian-Ordovician age, but cannot figure out what is is. Any one have an idea? A piece fell off and then we can see a very smooth surfce inside (black part).

I would also like to ask about the ID of another fossile of the Kalvsjøen formation, around the same age. For me this rock is very nice and decorative, it is cut by natural causes into a perfectly flat surface on the top, and in the middle of the surface is a very small fossile in the shape like a bowling ball without the handle, perfectly round (half of it visible).

It is very smooth to touch by the finger, made of different material than the rest of the rock.

In my opinion, in order to find out what it is, you'd need to remove it from the matrix completely and make much sharper photos of it.

Yes, I understand that, but I not like to destroy the rock, because the whole rock has an aesthetical value for me. I just would like to know the possibilities or alternatives of what it can be? A brachiopod?

You would make that list by applying the limiting facts you have to work with. The more limits, the shorter the list. We don't have enough limits to even start without more characters to assess.

Sorry, but I can't say anything more without at least a better photo which shows characteristic details which might lead to conclusions.
