New Members Dorset_Belle Posted May 18, 2022 New Members Share Posted May 18, 2022 I found this bone? on a beach walk this afternoon after a stormy couple of days weather. I'm not sure if it's a fossil but was wondered whether it could be a rostral node? Found on Branksome Chine Beach, Poole UK. Thanks in advance. Mahnmut
Hello Dorset Belle and welcome to the forum. I think what you found is the distal end of a femur, what is called an epiphysis, that is the part of the bone that is separated from the shaft by the growth line. Especially in young animals it separates easily from the long bone.
