Meganeura
Some IDs needed for fossils from my hunt yesterday, so any help would be appreciated! 1) Not sure if this is a sea robin skull or something else. 2) I think this is a very worn tooth from something? 3) Preeeeeeeetty sure this is just a rock with some interesting layers - but I’ve found them on occasion and figured I may as well ask: 4) Very thick piece of what I originally thought was sea turtle shell, but due to how thick it is, I’m not sure anymore: Top: Side: Bottom: As always, any help is appreciated! abyssunder
I think, specimen 3 could be a partial tooth. 1 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. That was definitely my thought, and why I picked it up - but it's a very different texture from horse and similar teeth, which has made me think possibly a piece of mammoth tooth? Fossils? I dig it. Meganeura
@Shellseeker Would you say #3 here is a mammoth tooth piece? It looks very similar to the second picture you posted here: Fossils? I dig it.
Meganeura
More pics of specimen #3 - I’m feeling pretty convinced it’s mammoth tooth honestly. Fossils? I dig it.

Makes me both happy to have finally found a mammoth tooth (or fragment) but also sad, as I've DEFINITELY thrown a couple of similar pieces back into the peace thinking they were just cool layered rocks. 1 Fossils? Yeah, definitely noted that it's easier to ID a rock as a rock than leave it and be sad later! 1 Fossils? I dig it.
