Tr0xy
I picked this up during my hunt at Florida's Peace River. My first thought was a eroded rock. It's mostly hollowed with maybe 1mm thick outer wall. Its hard and has a smooth porous texture in the outside. I noticed the light shines through the outer wall. I tried to take pictures with the light coming through it. I have consulted some Peace river identification sites and have found nothing similar. I'm stumped. Any ideas? If it turns out to be a rock, that just means its a really cool rock! Thank you! Edited June 13, 2022 by Tr0xy
Harry Pristis
My guess is it is a geodized bit of fossil marine life, coral probably. It is probably from the Early Miocene Tampa Member of the Arcadia Formation, the source of agatized coral. It has been river-tumbled for a very, very long time to give it the rounded exterior. Just a guess. 1 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
