New Members ONeil Posted July 1, 2022 New Members Share Posted July 1, 2022 I found this brain shaped object on the south cost of England. It’s very heavy. It is not magnetic.
DPS Ammonite
Pyrite with possible alteration to limonite on the outside. It is common in chalk and limestone. 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. See my Arizona Paleontology Guide link The best single resource for Arizona paleontology anywhere. Manticocerasman
I agree with marcasite growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
digit
@ONeil welcome to the forum! As you can see the collective knowledge contained in our member's brains extends beyond fossils themselves to related fields like minerals (which we often encounter while fossicking for fossils). I would have described this lovely marcasite specimen as looking more like a head of cauliflower than a brain but maybe that is because I'm a vegetarian. That's one for the display case for sure! https://www.google.com/search?q=marcasite&tbm=isch Cheers. -Ken
