New Members MrG Posted October 8, 2022 New Members Share Posted October 8, 2022 I don't have much to tell about where this rock was found. It's been in a stash of collected rocks for a while. But I'm curious if anyone has any ideas what it could be. My impression is fossilized wood, but I have no idea what the white band is. There is what appears to be a rusty nail of sorts embedded in it through the darker area and then into the white area. Any ideas?
Fossildude19
Some sort of metamorphic rock with an iron based mineral vein in it. Not a fossil, and not a nail. 1 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." FossilNerd
I agree with Tim. Not a fossil, but still a nice specimen for the “cool rock” shelf!
