digit Posted March 11, 2023 Share Posted March 11, 2023 Looks to be a purely geologic specimen with no biological origin. Not seeing the type of structure usually seen in petrified wood. Were there other similar looking pieces of rock where this item was found? Looking at geologic maps it is possible to get an idea of how old the surface rocks are where an items is found. That can help to pin down the types of fossil material possible.
