AranHao
Hello, everyone. I have a T-rex tooth. It has a wear surface at the distal serration. Yes, I think it is black, but when I shine it with strong light, it appears brown and slightly yellow. I would like to know what causes the wear surface to show different colors? Troodon
Like I already indicated I do not believe that is a wear surface but a ding that occured possibly post mortem given how sharp the edges look. The color variation is because you have two different surfaces. The outer covering is the enamel, while the inside, darker color, is harder dentin. During the mineralization process these surfaces will undergo changes to their original structure differently. 5

Please forgive my inappropriate words. What you said is what I want to express. 2 hours ago, Troodon said: The outer covering is the enamel, while the inside, darker color, is harder dentin. Thank you for your explanation.
