Fin Lover
Is this a symphyseal tiger shark tooth or something else? I'm struggling to get good pictures, since it's only an 8 mm slant height, so hopefully these will do. Compared to a posterior tiger: Thank you! 1 Fin Lover
Fin Lover
I did just find this old post. Similar to mine, but not exact. I did look at the symphyseals in the book I have by the Gale family and I don't think it's G. cuvier: And not P. contortus: Fin Lover

I think it is Galeocerdo, but I can’t tell if it is a symphyseal, pathological or broken tooth.
Fin Lover
Thank you! It doesn't appear to me to be broken, but the serrations on one side are worn. Fin Lover
siteseer
Can you provide an apical view - looking straight down at the tip?
Fin Lover
I'm struggling to get a decent shot like that. Does this work? Fin Lover
debivort
huh, it looks like the enamel is broken on one side of the main blade. The root still makes me think symphyseal, but the range of possible shapes if unbroken seems rather wide now.

Fin Lover
I couldn't see the break before, but I just held it in much better light, and I do see it. I'm guessing it should be like: Edited April 19, 2023 by Fin Lover 1 Fin Lover
