In clay from Egemkapel, Egem (Ampe, Belgium) I found a number of vertebrae? They date from the Yperian stage of the early Eocene. I would like to know if they fit bony fish or sharks?

Fish... any moremore determination possible?

I concur with your fish vs shark guesses, and would guess fish for the last specimens. Other folks have more expertise though.

Thank you for your thought. I hope there are experts who might be able to determine it even more specifically. They are so small, which fish or shark fits with this.... :look:

Nice vertebrae.  The last vertebrae in your post (No idea?) are definitely from bony fish.  The bottom vertebra in the below picture is from a sawfish.

Nice @MarcoSr, Sawfish was still missing in my collection! Do you think the others are sharks?

You have 3 vertebrae that look like shark vertebrae.  The two in the picture below.

Edit:  Note some ray vertebrae can look very similar to shark vertebrae.

Thank you very much! Very cool so small and yet shark and sawfish. I suspected so. It's great that I can learn more and more through this forum.
