Calymene or Flexycalimene

Savvas

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone. I was thinking of buying this one because I liked the preservation, the way it is placed on the rock and the general way it looks that is not the common one that we are used to see on these from Morocco.

I was wondering is it a Flexycalimene or Calymene, and could it be anything special regarding the species? Thank you all!

You will need to provide a view of the pygidium,  for accurate identification.

Unfortunately those are the best shots for  pygdium visibility the seller provided me with. He doesn't sell fossils from what it appears from his shop, so I don't want to harass him with too many difficult questions. I hope they can provide with an idea of how it looks.

Unable to make a determination, without a straight on view of the pygidium.

Impossible, really.

Completely understandable. Though as it is, does it look like a fossil worth buying due to the preservation quality and position on rock?

I think it looks better than a totally prone flat one.  But that it personal taste.

The preservation looks similar to those Illinois calymenids
