Dino Dad 81
Hey all, Does this 3" specimen from the Hell Creek of Powder River co, MO look like a big node or like a section of dome?
DinoFossilsUK
Definitely the wrong shape to be a section of the dome @Dino Dad 81. It might not come across as much in the pictures as it does in hand but it's fairly pointed, not rounded like you would expect from a piece of Pachy dome. It's not as pointed as many of the smaller nodes/spikes as it's from an adult (the nodes flatted out as the animal grew).
Carl
I'm not seeing a dome and it is pretty large for a node. Definitely bone, but may be a bit hard to pin beyond that.
Troodon
Definitely not a dome the base is not typical to be one. I've seen dome pretty large domes so you cannot rule out it being a lateral node.

That's what I thought, it's very big but definitely within the range of nodes found on adult skulls.
