Fossilized wood?

I found this weird thing on the beach at Tybee, it caught my eye b/c of the pattern. It is quite hard, not what I expect from a piece of bark, and even has a shine to the underside. Is it possible it’s mineralized?

Wow!! I’ll have to look that up! Thanks!

Google 'fossil shark cartilage' - it'll be more streamlined.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was "sawfish rostrum". I don't know if this is true, but definitely has the shark cartilage look.

Sawfish rostrum is certainly a possibility - that's why I said 'chondrichthyan cartilage' and not 'shark cartilage.'
