SharkySarah
I found this gastropod in a stream in Erie. co NY. It is roughly 1 mm tall and 3 mm across. Finding resources online has proven tricky. I'm leaning towards Euryzone or Glyptotomaria but would love an opinion from someone familiar with this formation.
Thomas.Dodson
Not a fossil. This is a case from a caddisfly, Helicopsychidae (probably Helicopsyche). They build these spiral cases out of sand grains. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopsyche 6

I am so embarrassed, I totally forgot there were ones that don't form a straight case.
