I found this near my home in Georgia.

I'm thinking it's petrified wood, if so what minerals have taken the woods place?...

The smooth, waxy appearance puts me in mind that it may be chert, which is a cryptocrystalline quartz. Chert can appear as part of a diagenetic replacement in petrified wood.

Petrified plant but not wood

I can't really say it's not plant, but I think the indications are weak. Chert nodules take a similar form quite often.
