Here's a finger that was gifted to me from my father it was passed down from generation to generation starting with my 4th great grand father was said to be found in the state of Arizona somewhere in the mountains...please give me an honest opinion on what you think it's worth if anything and how old it should be because I don't know seeings how all my relatives that knew anything about great details are long deceased

Welcome to the Forum.
As per the Fossil Forum's Rules and Community Standards, we do not evaluate fossils on the Forum.  It is beyond what can be done by photographs.

However, I can tell you for certain this is NOT a petrified human finger, (or petrified anything)  and that it isn't worth anything.

Sorry.  didn't mean to laugh but just the title was a quite funny.  Looks like some kind of rock to me.

I know all of this is hard to hear given that your family has held on to this for so long, and it sounds to be a treasured artifact, but this is definitely not a finger. To be blunt, it is just a suggestively shaped rock.

Why do we all say this isn’t a finger? We know that if a finger were to be fossilized it most certainly would not do so like this. The finger would have started to desiccate and decompose before it fossilized. The soft tissue would very likely be gone, and if any of it did fossilize (would be extremely rare!) it wouldn’t look this way. IF this was a finger you should, at the least, see evidence of bone structure and specific diagnostic features of bone.  We see none of those.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and the ender of your 4th great grandfather’s legacy. :(

Although I do agree this is not a fossil finger, the fact alone that it has been in your family for so long makes it something special. Give it to your children and grandchildren in due time and do not worry about any monetary value you may miss by keeping it.

Best Regards,

J
