Asteroid may contain heaviest known elements

DPS Ammonite

Recommended Posts

The 33 Polyhymnia asteroid with an estimated weight of 75.28 g/cm3, may be more dense than the heaviest stable element that we know of, Osmium. It is theorized that there might be an island of stability of around 164 on the periodic table; that element may compose part of the asteroid.
