I try to keep hunting year round.  Sometimes it is difficult.  The Zolfo Springs USGA gauge was at 8 feet today.  Although I have occasionally tried, I can not breathe river water.

Our temperatures were cold starting out.  My car thermometer had readings as low as 53 degrees Fahrenheit. I have not been out for a week,  which means muscles and joints are hurting more now. It is always nice to get rewarded.

Only time for a few photos..

I generally average 6 or 7 sieves an hour and I hunted for 6 hours. Whatever I find,  I am always pleased. For the 1st 5 hours,  mostly small shark and ray teeth,  a few ray dermals, a broken shark vert.

Going into the last hour,  a nice Bovid tooth,  Bison or modern cow. The APL is 30 mm. I'll figure it out. IMG_3314.thumb.JPG.fe4c94f3789b56a5907966a3462709cd.JPGIMG_3312.thumb.JPG.5a3f6209c112f7f2f9d34c06780c3973.JPG

The above tooth came off of clay and so I stay there trying for a Meg.. I was at the point where I should have left 2 sieves earlier in order to get home for dinner. So, I told myself that this next sieve was absolutely the LAST sieve.

and... It was not a Meg

A tad broke , size 55 mm. Hastalis.  I'll figure out a tooth position... It always somehow feels better when the best comes last.

Nice haul! Are you working the banks, sand or gravel bars or going to the bottom, filling the sieve and screening it at the surface?

No water gauge is keeping Jack at home! Love the colors. I know they are everywhere but I sure do love the big sand tiger fangs.

Going out Friday. Tuned up the tooling and ready for the water. Hoping for a little more water level drop but I’ve accepted I’m getting wet.

Thanks for posting!

Over the years, I have tried many techniques. When possible my back and neck really appreciate hunting in at least 4 feet of water. You have heard of water aerobics?  I have also discovered that most of the pain is generated from searching rather than filling the sieve.  Closer to my eyes is better.  That the long version of "filling the sieve and screening at the surface".

Correct Jp... Our hobby is addictive , worse than heroin. I get irritable when I can not hunt for a week. My good wife will not put up with that,  kicks me out of the house and says "Go fossil hunting"

You will find when you hunt Bone Valley that those Sand Tigers are extremely rare, except is a few locations.. They are common in the Phosphate mines...

Best of luck tomorrow.  I get the feeling that new stuff is more available in Old places....

It would seem to be an Upper Lateral #4

An upper jaw M1 or M2.  At 30 mm, almost certainly modern.

That's what I've been doing wrong. I haven't been irritable!  I'm so laid back I don't have a pulse sometimes. Next time I get worked about something, I'll tell my wife I gotta get down to the water and sift for a few hours. Thanks Jack.:JC_doubleup:

So I have sorted the initial pile, removed almost all the small shark teeth and have a few photos of what interests me most...

Additionally,  a couple of bones I am investigating... But the most interesting is a small bone that seems almost incidentally damaged. I'll likely keep this one looking for anything remotely similar..
