Fossildude19
Looks more like slag, or maybe even coal, to me. 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." TqB
I agree it's industrial slag, probably from iron smelting. It can indeed look just like obsidian and is effectively an artificial form of it. Other colours occur which you might find; I have a few pieces, including black, from my area in NE England where it often ends up as hardcore for railways, farm tracks etc. 3 Tarquin
mr.cheese
I grew up in North East England too and found plenty playing on the tracks as a kid! South Wales is as heavy on the Steel work as my town was too so I agree with the others too 1 1
