svcgoat
Found in Garfield Montana Unsure if this is a foot or hand claw even after reading Troodons guide multiple times. I want to know if it's foot or hand What digit If it's a Dromaeosaur Thank you!
Dino Dad 81
How interesting! You need pics of the top and bottom too. Looks to me like a hand claw contender. Below are some casts. On the left are digit 2 toe claws from Deinonychus (top), Dromaeosaurus, and Velociraptor. On the right are hand claws from Dromaeosaurus (top) and Velociraptor. Here's Utahraptor hand: Dakotaraptor toe 2-2:
Dino Dad 81
It looks like there may be tip resto...can you confirm?
svcgoat
I havent purchased it yet, I was hoping for a foot claw though but when I looked at Troodon's guide it was a bit confusing as to what the joint attachment should look like because it looked half moon but was bigger than what Troodon had in terms of how far the semicircle went to the bottom of the claw
svcgoat
Seller is unsure of resto
Dino Dad 81
The top and bottom pics would really help. The 2-2 toe claw tends to be more laterally compressed than the hand claws. Resto could dictate whether that claw is very valuable or not so much.

Seller only had those two pictures on their phone will ask to send more when they get a chance

svcgoat
How do I know if the blacklight identifies restoration. I'm not seeing any red flags, @jpc @hadrosauridae @Dino Dad
jpc
I'm not either. (seeing restoration, that is). Edited January 16 by jpc
hadrosauridae
No, I don't see evidence of restoration either. Paint and epoxy putty show different than fossil under UV. Here is an example. One is a heavily repaired metatarsal (without attempts to disguise) and what that epoxy repair looks like un black light. Professional fossil preparation services at Red Dirt Fossils, LLC.
