New Members Curiocurator Posted February 4 New Members Share Posted February 4 Hello! We found this in a river bed in south Central Wisconsin. What do you think it might be? Some of us think it is a mushroom and something maybe a seashell. Thank you!
Kane
It seems to be a brachiopod, reminiscent of a strophomenid/strophodontid. @Tidgy's Dad 1 1 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Fossildude19
Looks more like a possible Orthid brachiopod, to me. Definitely NOT a mushroom. Tidgy's Dad
It could be either. Is it domed, slightly rounded, flat, or a bit concave? Looks slightly convex to me. How wide is it, please? Can you tell us the nearest town/ city? Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
VINGOP
It reminds me of giant barnacles. I have found many similar fossils that are the remains of the bases of barnacles . Edited February 5 by VINGOP
