minnbuckeye
After posting my trip report last week, these two partial ammonites pictured are without identification yet. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to their identity? They were beach finds on the Oklahoma side of the lake.
DPS Ammonite
What formation did they come from? Duck Creek? Need better locality info since many formations occur on Lake Texoma. What other fossils were found with them? Some sort of look like Eopachydiscus with faint ribs and elaborate septa especially in the last photo. Photo of Eopachydiscus from Lance Hall at link below. See bottom of page for Eopachydiscus. http://www.northtexasfossils.com Geology maps of Texoma area. https://txpub.usgs.gov/txgeology/ Edited February 23 by DPS Ammonite 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. minnbuckeye
@DPS Ammonite, Thanks for the response. They were found close to the Little Glasses Marina by Kingston, Ok. The other fossils of the shoreline are posted in my thread from last week Oklahoma 2, Waurika and Lake Texoma. One map seemed to indicate Duck Creek (Caddo Limestone). The other map showed it being Comanchean, which I think contains the Caddo Limestone.
