You can see the gills ok it and there are other types of fungi atop it.

It's truly a magnificent and well preserved specimen and where I found it was in a rock bed of an apartment complex.

I also possess a crystilized dragons heart if yall are interested in seeing that.

As mushrooms are mostly water, they would not preserve in this way. Also, dragons only exist in fantasy, not in the real world.

This appears to be a weathered piece of chert/agate.

You have a Chert nodule.  Not a mushroom.

Also, no such thing as Dragons, so, ... no crystal dragon hearts.  Sorry.

Thanks, @doushantuo for the photo of that incredibly well-preserved mushroom. Beautiful!

To address the original poster, I'd just like to quote from the research paper you linked to:

[This specimen is] "remarkable for its exceptional preservation as a mineralized replacement in laminated limestone, as all other fossil mushrooms are known from amber inclusions."

And, "only ten fossil mushrooms reported to date, all unique amber inclusions ranging from mid-Cretaceous to Early Miocene in age [2–8]. Here
we report the discovery of a new fossil mushroom that is unique in its preservation as a mineralized replacement, and the oldest yet encountered. The specimen comes from the laminated limestones of the Crato Formation, which outcrop on the northern flanks of the Chapada do Araripe in Ceara´, Brazil; a Lagerstatte famous for the exceptional preservation of its diverse Lower Cretaceous paleobiota."
