New Members Jllich Posted March 16 New Members Share Posted March 16 (edited) Hey. I have started rock hunting and have found quite a lot that may or may not be fossils. I have found a large number of fossilized shell, but those are the only ones I’m 100% sure are actually fossils. If anyone could help me out on what characteristics to look for or any other advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊 I have included pics of a few I’ve found. #1 #2 #3 Edited March 16 by Jllich
Tidgy's Dad
The first photo shows specimens of what I think is now called Texigryphaea sp. a type of oyster. Can't see anything in the other rocks. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
hemipristis
What is the size of the larger 2 oysters? btw, they are fossils, likely Cretaceous in age 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' George Santayana
DPS Ammonite
In first photo the bivalves are Exogyra species probably costata. We need clearer photo two. Also, let’s see the cross section. Could be Durania rudist if texture is right. Might also be a slickenside. Edited March 16 by DPS Ammonite 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.
