New Members J. Stark Posted April 26 New Members Share Posted April 26 This was found in a dry river bed inland from the west coast of California. Would appreciate some help IDing it. Could it be a scallop shell fossil? Thanks for the assist.

DPS Ammonite
Welcome to the Forum. Give us a better, more specific locality and we may be able to determine the age of the oyster and what rock layer it came from. 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. ezeemonee
This looks very much like a thick shelled fossil Oyster I found up in the Los Padres Mountains. Probably Miocene and some of the known species in that area include Ostrea Howelli or one of the Pycnodonte. I'll post it on here soon with a batch of other stuff I found up in that canyon. Here is my record of it on iNaturalist. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/105119449 Edited May 4 by ezeemonee
